Job Description
Geosyntec is seeking a skilled Geologist/Stratigrapher to join our Costa Mesa office. This role will enhance our contaminated site assessment and remediation practices and contribute to diverse projects including subsurface investigations, conceptual site model development, environmental assessments, carbon capture and storage, and groundwater management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Management: Plan and implement investigation and remediation projects, manage budgets, adhere to schedules, ensure quality, client satisfaction, and profitability.
- Conceptual Site Models: Develop geology-focused models to support remedial design.
- Data Analysis: Interpret and analyze geologic data from boring logs, geophysical surveys, and other sources.
- Technical Reporting: Prepare detailed reports, plans, specifications, and proposals.
- Remedy Evaluation: Assist in remedy evaluation, cost estimating, and support remedial implementation.
- Team Management: Mentor junior staff and manage subcontractors.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Client Interaction: Participate in meetings with clients, regulatory personnel, and other stakeholders.
- Fieldwork: Conduct fieldwork including environmental sampling, drilling oversight, and remediation system operations.
Education and Licensure:
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in geology, environmental science, or a related field.
- Preferred: Advanced degree in the same field; Professional registration (e.g., P.G.).
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum 5 years in environmental consulting or equivalent experience.
- Client Management: Demonstrated success in client development.
- Multidisciplinary Teams: Experience working with multidisciplinary project teams.
- Geologic Modeling: Proficiency in geologic modeling and geostatistical analysis.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Access, and scripting languages (e.g., R, Python). Familiarity with 3D modeling software (e.g., Petrel, Leapfrog3D) is preferred.
- Fieldwork: Ability to handle regular fieldwork and travel.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Knowledge of regulations related to carbon capture and environmental remediation is preferred.
- Safety Training: OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training is preferred.
Compensation: Salary Range: $78,465 to $122,040/year, based on experience and location.
