Principal Environmental Specialist

Job Description

As a member of NEPS Environmental, Health, Safety, and Emergency Response Department, the Senior PGD Environmental Specialist ensures compliance with federal, state, and municipal environmental regulations for NEPS Landfill Gas and Renewable Natural Gas assets. Responsibilities include permitting for new facilities, compliance assurance for existing permits, maintaining compliance calendars, conducting emissions monitoring, preparing reports, and advising on regulatory changes.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Thorough understanding of NSR permitting, Title V permitting, NSPS, and NESHAP regulations.
  • Experience in air quality compliance in landfill gas and oil & natural gas sectors.
  • Proficiency in emission calculations, data analysis, compliance auditing, and regulatory analyses.
  • Familiarity with emission calculation software and environmental databases.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, teamwork skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • BS in engineering, meteorology, environmental sciences, or related fields.
  • Experience in local, state, and federal permitting and compliance in the US.
  • Proficiency in Adobe, Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% to company assets and project sites.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide project management support for environmental due diligence.
  • Ensure robust processes for managing due diligence and permitting.
  • Manage consultant and vendor project compliance with corporate policies.
  • Identify and mitigate environmental risks and propose solutions.
  • Translate regulations and permits into actionable compliance tasks.
  • Develop environmental processes and procedures.
  • Track and analyze environmental performance metrics.
  • Lead environmental event response and support root cause analysis.
  • Communicate environmental issues effectively to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with environmental agencies and internal customers.
  • Understand and communicate business impacts of new environmental regulations.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 6+ years of experience
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree
  • Certification as an Environmental Professional or similar credentials
