Professional Geologist

Job Description

Geosyntec is looking for an experienced Professional Geologist with at least 5 years of experience to support our geology and dam remediation practices. This role focuses on construction oversight for dam remediation projects, geotechnical field investigation, and instrumentation monitoring.

Key Responsibilities:

• Instrumentation and Monitoring: Deploy and analyze instrumentation for monitoring landslides and ground movement.
• Dam Safety: Conduct dam safety inspections and environmental water quality sampling.
• Geologic Modeling: Develop geologic models using tools like EVS or Leapfrog for site conceptualization and groundwater modeling.
• Reporting: Prepare technical reports, proposals, and manage written document production.
• Client and Project Management: Plan and manage projects, ensuring adherence to schedules, budgets, and quality standards. Develop client relationships and lead business development efforts.
• Team Leadership: Mentor junior staff, manage subcontractors, and oversee fieldwork including environmental sampling and drilling oversight.

Education and Licensure:

• Required: Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, earth science (geology or hydrology), environmental, civil, or chemical engineering.
• Preferred: Advanced degree in geology or environmental engineering; Professional registration (e.g., P.E., P.G.).

Qualifications:

• Experience: Minimum 5 years of environmental consulting experience; 2 years of subsurface investigations on significant or high hazard dams.
• Fieldwork: Experience in field investigations, including drilling, logging, well installation, and sampling.
• Leadership: Proven leadership skills and success in client development.
• Technical Skills: Strong oral and written communication skills; proficiency in geologic modeling and data analysis.
• Training: OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training is preferred.
• Travel: Valid U.S. driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
