Job Description
As a Senior Analyst, Environmental Compliance & Strategy, you will support the responsible development, construction, & operation of utility-scale wind & solar projects across the US, primarily focusing on the desert southwest & Texas. You'll handle environmental-related due diligence, planning, permitting, & compliance for large-scale projects. This involves collaborating with internal teams, external consultants, legal counsel, & stakeholders such as private landowners, state/federal resource agencies, & conservation organizations.
Responsibilities:
Oversee consultants providing environmental survey support, review proposals, manage timelines, & ensure survey methodologies comply with wildlife agency input & permit conditions.
Review technical reports on habitat evaluations, environmental screenings, species surveys, wetland delineations, & post-construction monitoring.
Conduct environmental due diligence for development & acquisition opportunities.
Maintain organized project records to demonstrate compliance with federal & state wildlife regulations.
Review & support engineering design to ensure compatibility with project requirements.
Identify & communicate project needs, schedules, & risks, working collaboratively with internal teams & external parties to execute work on schedule.
Maintain relationships & support consultations with federal & state regulatory agencies.
Stay updated on environmental policies, regulations, & compliance affecting project siting & compliance.
Participate in regional & national initiatives, conferences, & industry groups as needed.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree.
Experience interpreting federal & state environmental laws (ESA, NEPA, CWA) & developing project compliance strategies.
1+ years in renewable energy or 2-4 years in a similar industry managing similar responsibilities.
Self-directed, detail-oriented, & effective in a team environment.
Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment with competing deadlines & quickly learn internal processes.
Strong attention to detail for concise & accurate documents & communications.
Ability to navigate ArcGIS & Google Earth to interpret environmental spatial data & identify project risks.
Eligible to work in the US without visa sponsorship.
Preferred:
Advanced degree in biological science/natural resources/environmental policy or environmental law.
Knowledge of USFWS Wind Energy Guidelines & Eagle Conservation Plan Guidance.
Familiarity with southwestern natural resources.
