Technologist - Communications Engineer

Job Description

Job Title: Technologist I, Communications Engineer. Location: Chandigarh, India. Job Type: Full-time, Onsite. The Communications Engineer, Technologist I, will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and operation of the company's network. This role involves providing operational and project support for data, voice, wireless, and video networks, alongside developing and maintaining procedures for network operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in ensuring 24/7/365 staffing for network operations
  • Monitor network, servers, and systems health using Solarwinds, Netflow, Microsoft SCOM, SCCM, Splunk, etc.
  • Work with trouble tickets and support teams to restore network services
  • Assist with investigations & documentation in the network operations center
  • Design and maintain network monitoring tools
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network issues remotely
  • Track and document problems to ensure timely resolution
  • Provide project support and evaluate new technologies
  • Identify and improve workflows and processes for network reliability
  • Lead and mentor junior technicians
  • Manage and document changes according to change management procedures
  • Assist in root cause analysis of network issues
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the line manager

NON-ESSENTIAL: Willingness to travel as required for business needs. Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Reporting Relationship: Reports to the Manager, Network Engineering. Collaborates with other IT teams

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Electronics, Computer Science, or related field
  • 3-5 years of work experience
  • Expertise in TCP/IP network protocol
  • Proficient in troubleshooting wireless networks (Cisco or Aruba)
  • Expertise in routing and switching technologies, Cisco Wireless Controllers, and access points
  • Knowledge of DMVPN, IPSEC, SSL VPNs
  • Proficient in Cisco ASA firewall technologies and routing protocols (EIGRP, BGP)
  • Experience with QOS policies across Data, Voice, and Video networks

DESIRED:

  • CCNA, CCNP certifications
  • Strong communication skills in English
  • Ability to work independently

Working Conditions: This position involves office work, with occasional exposure to airborne dust and a stable (flat) work surface.
