Job Opportunity: Senior Geotechnical Engineer – Subsea Cables
Join our Geoscience & Geotechnics team as a Senior Geotechnical Engineer, focusing on the design and installation of subsea cables. You'll oversee thermal and burial design aspects, including risk and rating assessments, and support optimal cable routing through seabed and environmental assessments. Your role will involve defining installation methodologies and working across engineering disciplines to address ground-based risks with effective solutions.
Responsibilities:
Cable Design: Oversee thermal and burial design of subsea cables, including risk assessments and cable rating evaluations.
Routing and Installation: Assess seabed morphology and environmental conditions to determine optimal cable routes and installation methods.
Engineering Solutions: Develop and implement engineering solutions for cable design and installation, considering water depth, seabed conditions, and burial requirements.
Team Collaboration: Work with engineering teams to consolidate ground-based risks into actionable mitigations.
Mentorship: Provide senior-level expertise and mentorship, driving innovative thinking within the team.
Tool Development: Contribute to the development of new cable design tools and software.
Industry Engagement: Build relationships with industry partners and academic institutions.
Data Synthesis: Integrate multiple geoscience datasets to understand the impact of ground-based risks on technical and commercial solutions.
Requirements:
Education: Master’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering.
Experience: Extensive experience in offshore power cable installation/design, with a strong understanding of soil properties and their impact on cable design.
Skills: Proficiency in numerical modeling, geotechnical tool development, and cross-disciplinary communication.
Leadership: Strong technical leadership and commercial awareness.
Teamwork: Excellent team player with a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
